HsM Reference Manual

When a device is registered in a specific room in HsM that device is then owned by the customer this location belongs to. Devices that are not registered (i.e. have never been registered or have been unregistered) are not owned by any customer. When a registered device is unregistered, data for this device that is only relevant for the owner (e.g. service requests, device documents etc.) may be altered or deleted.

There are however situations when a device shall be removed from a location but shall still be owned by the customer. To support these cases HsM allows stashing devices.

When stashing a device the device is moved to a special location within the customer's location tree called the Stash (Location type: Stash). That location will be automatically created by HsM the first time a device is stashed. Stashing a device equals moving the device to the specific Stash location.
