HsM Reference Manual

Associating an already registered device with a different location is called moving.

Moving within the same customer

If the new location is within the same customer the ownership of the device does not end. For moving a device within a customer the user needs <%PC EDIT_DEVICES_COMPETENCECLASS%> permission for the competence class associated with the device-type of the device that shall be moved.

Moving to a different customer

If the new location is a location of another customer moving a device is actually unregistering the device at the old location/customer and then a registering the device at the new location/customer. For moving a device to another customer the accessing user must therefore have permission <%PC UNREGISTER_DEVICE%> AND <%PC EDIT_DEVICES_COMPETENCECLASS%> on the customer the device is currently registered and permission <%PC EDIT_DEVICES_COMPETENCECLASS%> on the customer it shall be moved to.

If the customer the device is currently registered at is marked as deleted, then the user does not need any permission on that customer to move the device to the new customer.

Compound devices

When a compound device is moved (within a customer or to another customer) the compound device and the compound member are both moved to the new location. The link between compound device and compound member is not deleted when moving a device.

Device systems

Device systems can be moved (within a customer or to another customer) like any other device. The device system configuration will stay untouched.
