Device-types and their characteristics are defined in the Catalog Service. However, in the Client Service additional data and configuration can be stored for device-types in the context of a reseller.
Device-type extensions are bound to the capability CUSTOMER_DEVICE_TYPE_EXTENSIONS.
Users with permission VIEW_CUSTOMER_DEVICE_TYPE_EXTENSIONS can view the reseller's device-type extensions. Users with permission EDIT_CUSTOMER_DEVICE_TYPE_EXTENSIONS can create and modify a reseller's device-type extensions.
The restricted access attribute for device-type extensions is used to define which extensions will appear in the list of effectively available extensions for a device at a customer, it is not used for authorizing read or edit operations on the device-type extensions level.
