The Client Service provides different methods of identifying components, see table 33.
Method of identification |
Description |
|---|---|
Component ID |
The component ID is not printed or stored on components and can therefore only be retrieved from backend systems. If known to the accessing client, the component ID is the primary way for identifying components. |
Serial Number + Secret |
Serial number and secret are printed on the components (and are also part of the QR code). See below for more details. |
Network ID |
Clients knowing the network ID of a component (i.e. via BLE) can use the network ID to identify components. Network IDs are obviously only available for components that can connect to a network (BLE, WLAN, etc). The QR code of such components also includes the network ID. |
Table 33: Methods of identifying a component
Identifying a component via serial number and secret key is a falflback way of identifying a component that can be used if the QR code on the component cannot be read or if the component is physically not accessible. The secret to be used with this identification method depends on the device, see table 34 for details.
